New Delhi, Sept 29: Russian Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov met his Indian counterpart A K Antony at South Block today.

Earlier, Serdyukov laid a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate. After paying homage, Serdyukov was presented a Guard of Honour at South Block by the Indian armed forces.

Mamond Agency, Sept 29: Despite unhappiness expressed by Pakistan over US’ air strikes over the past few weeks, the US and NATO spy planes and helicopters continued to violate Pakistan’s airspace on Sunday.

According to a private TV report, the US drones were seen flying over Mamond and areas of North and South Waziristan causing panic among local people.

Besides, two NATO helicopters were also seen hovering over Chaman near the Pak-Afghan border, the Daily Times quoted the TV report as saying.

Following these two incidents, the Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were placed on high alert, even as FC sources said that NATO helicopters had not crossed the border at Chaman, but were seen flying over the border.

New York, Sept 29: Pakistan President Asif Ali Zaradri has said that he wanted to suck life out the Taliban and other terrorists so that the menace of terrorism is uprooted for ever in his country.

He said he wanted to fight out the Taliban because it were a cancer to the Pakistani society which killed his wife.

New Delhi, Sept 29: The eighth meeting of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-MTC) will be held here today.

The meeting will cover a broad spectrum of issues including supply of defence systems, equipment upgrade, product and life cycle support for defence equipment of Russian origin.

New York  - The United Nations Security Council plans to adopt a new resolution later Saturday calling on Iran to "comply fully and without delay with its obligations" with past UN demands to halt its uranium enrichment programmes.

But the draft resolution expected to be adopted by the 15-nation council does not call for additional sanctions. Three previous resolutions since 2006 have imposed a ban on travel by some high- ranking Iran officials and exports of nuclear technology to Iran.

Berlin  - Germany has recalled its ambassador to Iran because a German diplomat attended a military parade in Tehran, a foreign ministry spokeswoman said Saturday.

The spokeswoman confirmed a report in the news magazine Der Spiegel that Ambassador Herbert Honsowitz had been told to report to Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Monday morning.

The magazine said the foreign minister was "very angry" that the embassy's defence attache attended the parade after ambassadors from EU member states had agreed to boycott it.
