Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath announced the diktat immediately after Oil Minister Veerappa Moily announced the proposal to raise the cap on subsidised LPG cylinders from 6 to 9 per household per year.

Speaking to reporters, Narayansami said alleged that all of the 39 coal blocks allotted during the NDA regime lacked required procedure and that the allocations were made in a non-transparent manner.

Speaking on the topic, he said, "There have been demands from various quarters and the coal ministry is examining the possibility of extending the CBI enquiry into all allocations made during the NDA regime.”

NDA cadets to sail “Tarangini” at high seas

New Delhi, Sept 12 : A sailing expedition by the officers and cadets of National Defence Academy (NDA), to a few Indian Ocean Region countries on board a Sail Training Ship ''Tarangini'' is scheduled to take place from September 21 to November 24.

The INS Tarangini, the Indian Navy''s Sail Training Barque, will be used for this expedition. It is custom-built for sail training of officers and cadets. Built at the Goa Shipyard Limited, Vasco da Gama, Tarangini is the only sailing ship to be commissioned into the Indian Navy on 11 November 1997, and is based at Kochi under Southern Naval Command.

Shibu Soren meets NDA MPs

New Delhi, July 18: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Shibu Soren is holding meetings with several leaders from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) camp here today.

Congress has been trying to seek Soren’s support, ahead of July 22 trust vote to win the number game.

JMM, which has five MPs in the Parliament, is an ally of the UPA Government. It is not clear whether it will support them or not. JMM has been unhappy with the Congress, as Soren was not included in the Union Cabinet.

Soren had demanded that JMM be given a Cabinet berth at the Centre and also revived an old wish to head the UPA regime in Ranchi. (ANI)

NDA to protest softly against Speaker’s decision on 32 MPs

New Delhi May 5 : The National Democratic Alliance today decided to adopt soft protest against Speaker Somnath Chatterjee’s recent decision of referring the cases of 32 MPs, mostly from the BJP, to the Privileges Committee for their "unruly behaviour.”

Bharatiya Janata Party Deputy leader V K Malhotra said: "Opposition MPs will remain silent in the Lok Sabha throughout the day and a meeting will be held on Tuesday morning to decide the protest strategy."

"In fact, we will meet every day to decide the strategy," he told reporters after the meeting.

"We are adopting a Gandhian way of protest. Let's see how it works out," a senior NDA leader said.

Opposition disrupts Parliaments over farmers' plight

New Delhi, Feb 27 : VIDARBHA FARMERSOpposition parties constituting the Third Front forced proceedings in parliament to be adjourned on Wednesday, while highlighting the plight of farmers across the country.

Members of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the Samajwadi Party and the Telugu Desam Party members disrupted the proceedings in the Lower House, forcing speaker Somnath Chatterjee to adjourn deliberations.

Chatterjee said, "I am giving a notice that from tomorrow those members coming to the Well of the House will suffer."

UNPA To Abstain From Voting

New Delhi: United National Progressive AllianceAfter a decisive meeting on finalization of presidential election policy, the leaders of the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA) has decided to keep off voting and not support NDA backed presidential confident Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.

Considering Prathibha Patil’s contention, the UNPA leaders stated they are taking a “witting” decision to not back up the UPA candidate.

The UNPA leaders also clarified that they would plan their own independent applicant for the Vice-Presidential elections.
