After the huge North American success of its Zi8 pocket camcorder, which packs features like 1080p video capture and electronic image stabilization, Kodak is bringing to the market the PlaySport Zx3, which boasts the same good and popular features in addition to the camcorder being waterproof.

The gadget will be available in the US starting April, but will ship with virtually zero memory, and buyers would have to equip it with their own SD card. With the camcorder, like the Zi8, users will be able to capture High Definition video, click 5 megapixel still photographs and easily share all creations shot with the cam on YouTube, Vimeo and Facebook.

The most interesting thing about the new offering is that users can take it underwater, up-to 3 meters. Among the PlaySport's other attractive features are a 2-inch color LCD display, face recognition, rechargeable Lithium-ion battery and mini-HDMI output.

The PlaySport Zx3's American retail price is expected to be US$150.

No confirmations about the device's availability in Australia have yet been shared, although Kodak's Australian website does list the product.
