Mohali, Dec. 22: Indian cricket coach Gary Kirsten is not happy with English captain Kevin Pietersen's `switch hit', and termed the shot disadvantageous for bowlers.

He said that the shot puts the tribe of bowlers in a distinctly disadvantageous position and administrators of the game should bring in change in the laws to right the wrong.

"I think we have to do something about the law of the game, because it's a big advantage for the batsman and a disadvantage for the bowlers," The News quoted Kirsten, as saying.

Pietersen unleashed the much debated shot against Harbhajan Singh and Amit Mishra in the ongoing Mohali test match.

However, Pietersen seems to be unperturbed by the debate, and said that he will continue playing the shot.

"I bring in the shot when fielders are in certain positions, when you pack the leg-side the scoring options are on the off-side. It's then I bat left-handed. That's how I did it in ODI's and that's what I do in Tests. I don't see it as a risky shot but a scoring option," he said.

Furore over the shot has surfaced earlier also but the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) decided that there was nothing wrong with it.

Many felt the shot puts the bowlers in the back foot since they have to declare beforehand which hand they would bowl with and from which side of the stumps. Besides, many feel, it upsets field positions and makes it difficult for bowlers to get leg before decisions. (ANI)
