Rajnath Singh calls on Varun Gandhi at Etah jail
Etah (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 6 : Bharatiya Janata Party President Rajnath Singh met Varun Gandhi at the Etah jail on Monday.
After the meeting, Singh said the BJP would politically and legally stand with Varun.
"BJP will not remain silent. The party is politically and legally standing with him," Singh told reporters.
He charged the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Congress with harassing Varun.
Singh alleged that the BJP candidate from the Pilibhit Lok Sabha constituency had been falsely implicated and booked under the National Security Act (NSA).
"The CD showing Varun making hate speeches are doctored. Action against Varun has been taken in haste. Before taking any action against Varun, the government must have conducted a thorough inquiry," he said.
Singh also reiterated his party's promise to build Ram Mandir and the Babri mosque in Ayodhya.
"You may go anywhere in the world, Ram was born here. Let Ram Mandir be built in Ayodhya, after that we will work towards building a mosque wherever you wish. We will get it done," he added. (ANI)
