Pakistan captain Shoaib MalikKarachi, Dec 12 : Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik believes his team can become a potent force in world cricket with the return of strike bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif.

Pakistan have been missing the services of both Shoaib and Asif in recent times due to injury or suspension, The News reported.

Shoaib is on a comeback trail after settling some issues with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and is recovering from injury problems.

Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib MalikLahore, Dec. 3 : Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik has said that the Indian cricket team’s tour of his country in January and February next year should go ahead, saying "cricket diplomacy" would ease existing tensions between the neighbors.

"If we play cricket matches, then the people of both countries will have a chance to divert their attention and the situation will definitely improve. Cricket diplomacy has helped in the past as well in the same manner," The News quoted Malik as saying.

Shoaib Malik says team united under his command

Shoaib MalikKarachi, Nov 10 : Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik has said that his entire team was united under his command ahead of the forthcoming ODI series against West Indies, from November 12-16.

He looked buoyed by fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar’s return in the team.

“We are completely united and the boys are eager to take the field against the West Indies. Shoaib is once again bowling at a good pace and his return will surely inspire the younger boys in the side,” The News quoted Malik as saying.

Shaoib Malik expresses surprise at Yousuf’s accusationKarachi, Nov 8 : Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has reportedly expressed surprise at batsman Mohammad Yousuf’s statement in which he said that because of captain’s attitude he was forced to join the Indian Cricket League (ICL), considered as “rebel” to BCCI-promoted Indian Premier League (IPL).

Malik said that he had a perfectly normal relationship with Yousuf, and added that he didn’t agree with his (Yousuf’s) criticism.

Yousuf said that he had been under enormous mental strain and stress since the World Cup in 2007.

The 34 year old batsman made it clear that he had not joined the League for the sake of money.

"Money was never an issue for joining the ICL. I was getting paid by the board for not playing in the private leagues," he said.
