No US-NATO force on Pak soil for curbing terror breeding grounds: HolbrookeBrussels, Mar. 22 : Raising serious concerns over the terror safe havens in Pakistan, which are being utilized by different terror outfits to carry out their activities across the world, the US's Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke has said that Pakistan it self should act to tackle this menace.

Holbrooke denied that the US or NATO forces would march-in to Pakistani territory from the Afghan side to take-up the issue.

The special US envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan, Richard Holbrooke, has said this relationship is a matter of concern, and Washington would certainly want to discuss the issue with Islamabad.

He said that the US Intelligence chief may also quiz the ISI chief about this nefarious connection.

Washington, Feb. 21: The US special envoy to Afganistan and Pakstan, Richard Holbrooke has expressed concerns that Pakistan's nuclear armaments may fall into the hands of militants.

In an interview given to a private television channel, Holbrooke said there is a `legitimate concern' about the issue, and the Obama administration has been informed about the potential threat by intelligence agencies.

"We have been assured by the American intelligence community that this arsenal is under the control of the Pakistan military. But it's an issue of high concern and it can't be ignored," The Nation quoted Holbrooke, as saying.

Swat peace deal ‘hard to understand’: HolbrookeWashington, Feb. 21 : The special US envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan, Richard Holbrooke has expressed his concern over the peace deal between the Pakistan Government and the Taliban in the Swat Valley, saying the Swat deal is `hard to understand.'

Holbrooke called Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari to convey Washington's stance on the issue, The Daily Times reports.

He said Zardari has assured him that the peace deal was only an `interim arrangement' to stabilise the troubled region.

Narayanan, Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Monday, and was reportedly briefed about the situation prevailing in South Asia from an Indian perspective.

Holbrooke told reporters here after his meetings that he was in New Delhi to seek the Indian leadership''s assessment of the situation in the region and to brief the latter about his visits to Pakistan and Afghanistan respectively.

Richard HolbrookeNew Delhi - India, the United States and Pakistan face a common threat, Richard Holbrooke, the US special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, said Monday after talks with Indian leaders.

Holbrooke is in the Indian capital on the last leg of a fact-finding tour to the region which earlier took him to Pakistan and Afghanistan.

"India, US and Pakistan all have a common threat now ... an enemy that poses a direct threat to our leaderships, our capitals and our people," Holbrooke told reporters after meeting with Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
