London, Aug 28 : A 27-year-old piece of wedding cake from the marriage of the Prince of Wales Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales has fetched 1,000 pounds at an auction.
The cake piece was originally given to Moyra Smith, a member of the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother''s household at Clarence House, who preserved the topping in cling film and kept it in a metal tin.
The nine-inch square piece of icing and marzipan, bought by an anonymous buyer, has the royal coat-of-arms and is coloured in gold, silver, red and blue.

According to reports, film-makers in the US are eager to make a movie about the butler’s life with the late Princess of Wales.
“It’s felt Burrell’s story is a fascinating one as he was the guy with the Princess day-to-day,” the Daily Express quoted a source, as saying.
“The story would focus on the years when he was working for the Princess and how they developed such a close understanding.”
Movie bosses are also hoping that Burrell will come on board as an adviser for the project.
