Governor Kashmir for timely execution of economic reconstruction projects

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N VohraSrinagar, Nov 1: Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today called for an effective management policy for timely completion of the projects being executed by Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) in the state.

Reviewing the progress of the ERA projects at a high level meeting in Srinagar, Vohra asked the officers to supervise the work on regular basis.

According to official sources, over Rs 438 crore projects are under execution in the state by ERA during the current year under Asian Development Bank Funding.

Vohra has given a call to revive the historical silk route for bilateral trade to usher in a new chapter of cordial relations between India, Pakistan and other nations in central Asia.

Governor Vohra was making the inaugural address at the 4-day International Conference ''Dynamics and Revival of Silk-route: Perspective, Challenges and Opportunities'' hosted at the campus Kashmir University on Tuesday (October 14).

Power self-sufficiency key to economic development: J-K governor

Srinagar, Sept 13 : The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday called for self-reliance in power generation by optimum development of the hydel potential of the State as it would lead to overall economic development.

At 51st board meeting of the State Power Development Corporation in Srinagar, the Jammu and Kashmir Governor, N N Vohra, said, “Mini and micro hydel projects hold the key for meeting power requirements, particularly in remote areas.”

During the meeting, working of the Power Development Corporation was reviewed and the board members discussed various issues regarding power generation, transmission and maintenance according to reports.

Talks between panel and Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti to be held today

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. VohraJammu, Aug 30 : The talks between the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS) and the panel appointed by the Jammu and Kashmir Governor N. N. Vohra, which is headed by SS Bloeria, will be held here today.

On Friday, the fourth round of talks was deferred in view of the indisposition of Bloeria.

The talks are being held to resolve the Amarnath forest land transfer issue.

The SAYSS has said that it has submitted written demands to the panel and is expecting a "favourable" response.

NSA M K Narayanan meets N N Vohra to discuss security situation in J-K

National Security Advisor M K NarayananSrinagar, Aug 20 : National Security Advisor M K Narayanan today met Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra and other top officials of the state administration to discuss the ongoing situation in Jammu region, in the aftermath of the controversy over the Amarnath land transfer.

He was accompanied by Intelligence Bureau Director P C Halder and other officers from the Union Home Ministry.

The visit comes two days after thousands of protestors marched past the UN office in Srinagar demanding the international body''s intervention to resolve the issue.

Jammu/New Delhi/Srinagar, Aug 8 :Vohra ready for talks to defuse Amarnath shrine land row Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra has said he is ready for talks to quell weeks of protest over the Amarnath land transfer row.

"We have come to know that the Shri Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti members have convened a meeting for the upcoming talks. We are ready and whenever they want, we will send our committee for the talks," he said last evening.

The struggle committee also extended an olive branch, saying its doors were always open for talks.
