Chicago, Nov. 17 : During the more than two-year-long campaign to win the bid for the White House, Democrat Barack Obama split his time between his family home in Chicago where Michelle and the girls lived, and a very modest apartment in Washington, which nearly burned down.

Both Barack and Michelle Obama had a few words to say on what they felt like living in that apartment, revealing it to CBS 60 minutes during an interview over the weekend.

Chicago, Nov. 12 : Incoming U. S. First Lady Michelle Obama has reportedly called up former First Lady Hillary Clinton for pointers on protecting her two young daughters from the media maelstrom at the White House.

“Michelle may not have loved the senator, but she always respected how the Clintons raised Chelsea,” Politico quoted a person familiar with Clinton’s end of the call, as saying.

In a strikingly symbolic moment in the historic transition of power in Washington, the outgoing President Bush and first lady, Laura, greeted President-elect Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, with smiles and handshakes, as they stepped from their limousine to begin a tour of their home for the next four years, after Obama is sworn in on January 20.

Chicago, Nov 7: US First Lady Laura Bush has invited Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia to the White House in the coming weeks to get a feel for their new abode.

Michelle accepted, and a trip will be scheduled soon, the Washington Post reported.

In a telephone conversation on November 5, Laura congratulated Michelle and the two discussed life as a President’s wife, the Obama campaign said. Michelle thanked the First Lady for her offer of help through the transition.

New York, Nov 6: US President-elect Barrack Obama's wife, Michelle, was criticised as well as praised for the dress she wore on election night.

She was wearing a red-and-black sheath by Narciso Rodriguez when she took to the stage at Grant Park in Chicago on November 4.

While some said that her dress was an eye-catching statement, others called it an eyesore.

"I voted for Obama, but I didn''t vote for that dress," the New York Times quoted Jessica Bettencourt, a homemaker and mother of three in Mequon, Wisc., as saying.

Washington - Michelle Obama, was born on January 17, 1964 and grew up in a one-bedroom apartment on Chicago's South Side where her mother, a former secretary, still lives. Her late father was an employee at the city's water plant.

Sometimes compared to Jacqueline Kennedy, Michelle, 44, will bring her own style of charm and sophistication to the White House as the country's first African American first lady.
