Haroon Lorgat appointed CEO overriding BCCI objectionJohannesburg, July 21 : Haroon Lorgat, the former chief executive of the International Cricket Council (ICC), as expected, has been appointed the new chief executive of Cricket South Africa (CSA), overriding reported objection by the Indian cricket board.

Lorgat replaces the controversial Gerald Majola, who was sacked in October in the wake of the bonus-payments scandal.

Lorgat confirmed he had written to all Emirates ICC match referees and umpires asking them to be "assertive and proactive" in dealing with the issues.

And, he added that players, and especially captains, also bore a major responsibility to ensure the game was played in the right spirit and at the right pace.
