Dalai LamaNew Delhi  - Hundreds of Tibetan monks and exiles gathered at a main Buddhist temple in a northern India hill-town to join their spiritual leader the Dalai Lama Sunday to offer prayers for Tibetans killed in Chinese crackdowns.

The Dalai Lama led the prayers at the Tsuglagkhang temple near his abode-in-exile in Dharamsala in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh.

Religious leaders from the four main Tibetan Buddhist sects, the Tibetan prime minister-in-exile Samdhong Rinpoche as well as ministers and members of the Tibetan parliament-in-exile were present at the prayers.

A religious association organised prayer session at Chamunda Temple with Hindu customs and rituals.

Several Buddhist monks and Tibetan exiles attended the praying session.

China slams Dalai Lama's autonomy demands Beijing  - China on Saturday accused the Dalai Lama of making unrealistic demands that go beyond his public commitment to greater autonomy for Tibet, rather than independence, in the latest reflection of the gulf between the two sides.

"The Dalai side still insists on establishing a so-called greater Tibet on a quarter of Chinese territory," Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi told reporters in Beijing.

"They want to drive away Chinese troops from Chinese territory," Yang charged.
