Washington, Dec 17 : Secretary of State-designate Hillary Clinton has told her supporters not to involve her in their efforts to stop Caroline Kennedy's path to the US Senate.

The move clears a major obstacle between Kennedy and the seat; Politico quoted a person familiar with replacement discussions, as saying.

Albany (New York, US), Dec. 16 : Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of former US President John F Kennedy, has made her ambitions for the soon to be vacated New York Senate seat more explicit by hiring one of New York's top political consultants to gain some altitude.

After a week of coy courtship and low-key feelers, Kennedy signed up major Democratic fixer Josh Isay, who has deep connections to New York powerhouses Senator Charles Schumer, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the Reverend Al Sharpton.

Ending weeks of silence and speculation, Kennedy made a series of rapid-fire phone calls to the state's leading political figures on Monday, including New York Governor David A. Paterson, in which she emphatically and enthusiastically declared herself interested in the seat.

State Governor David A. Paterson has said he has yet to make up his mind whom he will tap to fill the seat that becomes vacant next month if Clinton is confirmed as President-elect Barack Obama''s secretary of state.

New York, Dec. 8 : New York Governor David A. Paterson apparently seems disinclined to nominate Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of former US President John F. Kennedy, for the New York Senate to be vacated by soon-to-be Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

A source close to the governor said that the odds of Kennedy taking the US Senate are no better than 20-1.

WASHINGTON, Dec. 5 -- Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of slain President John F. Kennedy, may succeed Secretary of State-designate Hillary Clinton in the U. S. Senate, sources say.

Citing a source identified only as a "Democrat who would know," ABC News reported Friday that New York Gov. David Paterson has spoken with Caroline Kennedy about replacing Clinton in the Senate seat that her uncle, Robert Kennedy, held until his assassination in
1968.

The younger Kennedy's uncle, Ted Kennedy, represents Massachusetts in the Senate.
