Kayani asks for Cobra and Apache helicopters from the USLahore, Feb. 28 : After Pakistan Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi demanded unmanned Predator aircrafts from the US, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Kayani has now asked the Obama administration to provide it with Cobra and Apache assault helicopter gunships to carry out operations against the insurgents in the tribal areas along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

General Kayani handed over the list of demands to senior US military officials during their recent meeting. The Daily Times reported.

The radio recalled that when Kayani became chief of staff just over a year ago, the appointment was met with high praise from US officials, the Daily Times reports.

The US considers its relations with Pakistani military extremely important because of the insurgency of Taliban and Al Qaeda along Pakistan's border with Afghanistan.

General Kayani says Pak Army fully prepared for challengesIslamabad, Jan 16: Pakistan Army Chief General Ashfaq Kayani has said the army is ready to deal with any threats to the country's security.

"Pakistan Army is fully prepared to meet the challenges," the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) quoted General Kayani as saying while chairing the 62nd Formation Commanders' Conference at the General Headquarters (GHQ).

General Kayani said such a threat could best be defeated through a comprehensive national effort.

Rawalpindi, Jan. 3 : Taking strong note of the recent air strikes by US led international forces in Pakistan, Chief of Army Staff Gen. Ashfaq Kayani has asked the forces to cease the missile strikes.

During the Tripartite Commission meeting, consisting of military representatives from Afghanistan, Pakistan and international forces in Afghanistan, Kayani demanded that the strikes inside Pakistani territory should be immediately stopped, the Daily Times reported.

Kayani termed the strikes in the tribal areas of the country as `counterproductive in the war against terrorism and extremism'.

He said that many innocent people were being killed in the strikes, giving rise to extremism in the area.
