Kejriwal to vote in Delhi

Arvind-KejriwalNew Delhi, April 7 : AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, who is contesting the Lok Sabha election from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, will cast his vote in the national capital that goes to the polls April 10.

Aam Aadmi Party sources said Kejriwal has applied to the Election Commission for his voter identity card with the address as Tilak Lane in central Delhi. He will not cast his vote in Varanasi.

Will bring back black money, says AAP

Arvind-KejriwalNew Delhi, April 3 : The AAP Thursday released its manifesto for the Lok Sabha election, promising to bring back black money stashed abroad and clarifying it was not against FDI in principle.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal told the media here: "There should be political will to bring back black money stashed abroad."

He said the flow of black money, especially during elections, can be curbed by scrapping an income tax provision that people donating less than Rs. 20,000 to a political party need not furnish their details.

Kejriwal faces protests during road show in capital

KejriwaNew Delhi, Apr 2 : Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday faced protests during his road show aimed at reviving the shrinking base among the common man and to consolidate his Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) position in the upcoming general elections.

Protesters wore black bandanas and shouted anti-AAP and Kejriwal slogans. People said that Kejriwal has betrayed and broken trust of Delhi residents.

"We are against him. He is an escapist. He betrayed us. We gave him votes and he backstabbed us by running away," said an irked protester.

The former Delhi chief minister also said while campaigning in Chandni Chowk constituency that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) wanted early assembly polls in Delhi.

Asked why Modi had branded him "a Pakistani agent" and an "AK-49", Kejriwal shot back: "Why doesn't Modi talk about issues I have raised instead of calling me a Pakistani agent?

Kejriwal kickstarted his road show in Haryana's Badli area to garner voters' support ahead of the elections.

Slamming Modi, Kejriwal said there was no Modi wave and if he had the power he should have contested elections from one seat, that is, temple town of Varanasi.

Kejriwal to refocus on Delhi from April

Arvind-KejriwalNew Delhi, March 26 : AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal will refocus on Delhi from April after campaigning in Varanasi for the general elections, a party leader said Wednesday.

Kejriwal will visit all seven constituencies and hold road shows in Delhi from April 1. The campaining will be comnducted for a week, the party leader told IANS.

The former Delhi chief minister's two-day visit to Varanasi, where he announced he will contest against Bharatiya Janata Party's Narendra Modi, held six road shows in one of the oldest cities in India.

Modi lashes out at AAP, Kejriwal over Kashmir

Narendra-ModiBulandshahr, March 26 : Narendra Modi at a rally here in Uttar Pradesh Wednesday attacked the AAP, saying the party has shown Kashmir as part of Pakistan on its official website.

He derided Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal by calling him AK-49, referring to his 49-day chief ministership in Delhi. "This AK-49 just gave birth to a party, and that party shows Kashmir as part of Pakistan on its official website," Modi said.

Referring to Kejriwal's close aide Prashant Bhushan, Modi said "one of AK-49's close aides says there must be referendum in Kashmir. Because of this, Pakistan is jumping with joy."

Kejriwal reaches Varanasi, faces noisy protest

Arvind-KejriwalVaranasi, March 25 : AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal arrived here Tuesday to a hostile reception from apparent supporters of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

Eggs were thrown at his car outside the Kashi Vishwanath temple, with the protestors steadily raising anti-Kejriwal slogans and asking him to leave the Hindu holy city.

Calling him a "traitor", hundreds of slogan-shouting people blocked his cavalcade while raising slogans of "Modi, Modi".

I will defeat Modi in Varanasi: Kejriwal

"I was reading in some newspapers that it will be a symbolic fight (in Varanasi) and it is Modi who will win," Kejriwal told a meting of Muslims here.

"I want to tell him (Modi) that I am going (to Varanasi) not only to fight but I am going to defeat him," he said.

Kejriwal said the Aam Aadmi Party's "success story" of Delhi would be repeated in the Lok Sabha election.

Karnataka people are fed up with both Congress, BJP: Kejriwal

"The people here are fed up with both the Congress and the BJP. Both the parties have indulged in corrupt practices in the state. The people of Delhi had uprooted both these parties in the recent assembly elections. They had elected an honest government," Kejirwal said.

"Earlier, we didn't have an alternative to these two parties. But today, you have an option to choose an honest party," he added.

Swamy, who merged his Janata Party with the BJP some seven months ago, was the chief guest at a meeting here of traders organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party.

"AAP failed to provide details of their foreign funding to the home ministry. Kejriwal and his team have been busy in Gujarat to escape action by the central government," he said.

Arvind-KejriwalRohtak, (Haryana), Feb 28 : Delhi Metropolitan Magistrate Gomati Manocha on Friday asked former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to appear before her court on April 7 to clear his name in connection with a criminal defamation complaint filed against him by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nitin Gadkari.

It may be recalled that Kejriwal had included Gadkari's name in Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP's) list of "India's Most Corrupt".

Gadkari complained that Kejriwal had maligned his reputation.

Addressing media persons here, Kejriwal said he has asked Modi in the letter as to why was he silent on the gas pricing issue.

"I request Modi to break his silence on the gas pricing issue," he said.

In an interview to NDTV, Kejriwal, who submitted his and his council of ministers' resignation Friday, also refuted arguments that his government failed.

Kejriwal also said he was ready to face legal proceedings launched by Reliance chairperson Mukesh Ambani in the wake of the Aam Aadmi Party government filing a police complaint against him over the gas pricing row.

AAP leader Yogendra Yadav said at a press conference here after a party meeting that its first anti-corruption rally will be held Feb 23 in Haryana's Rohtak district.

The second rally will be held March 2 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The rally will be led by Kejriwal.

Yadav justified Kejriwal's resignation Friday, saying the AAP has set a precedent as a government that is willing to quit.

Kejriwal hints he may quit

Addressing the house despite unending heckling by Congress and BJP members, Kejriwal was at his aggressive best, saying it was more important to fight against corruption than to run a government.

"Whether our government remains in power or not is not important," he said, trying to make himself heard above the din caused by sloganeering by Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party legislators.
