Palin's teenage daughter splits from her baby's father

Palin's teenage daughter splits from her baby's father Los Angeles  - Bristol Palin, whose teenage pregnancy was an early problem in the vice-presidential campaign of her mother, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, has split up from her fiance, just two-and-a- half months after giving birth to their son.

People magazine reported Thursday that her split from fiance Levi Johnston happened several weeks ago and was mutual.

Johnston, 19, and Palin, 18, were thrust into the national spotlight when her pregnancy was revealed days after her mother joined presidential candidate John McCain on the Republican ticket. The young couple pledged to get married after she finishes high school later this year. But the issue highlighted Sarah Palin's hard line stance on "abstinence-only" sex education. (dpa)
