Pakistan envoy meets Pranab Mukherjee
New Delhi, Feb 3 : Rifat Masood, Pakistan''s Deputy High Commissioner to India met External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee here today.
Rifat is Pakistan''s Acting High Commissioner to India, as Shahid Malik (Pakistan''s High Commissioner to India) left for Pakistan following summons reportedly from the Foreign Office to help finalise Pakistan''s response on last year's Mumbai terror strikes.
However, sources in the Pakistan Mission in New Delhi informed that it was only a courtesy call.
Tensions between the two countries have risen since the Mumbai strikes, which India blames on the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group.
Earlier, National Security Advisor M. K. Narayanan said in a televised programme that Pakistan seems serious about investigating the Mumbai attacks and has sought clarifications on a dossier of evidence from India, but still is not doing enough to tackle militancy.
But, Mukherjee today said to a private news channel that India had not received any information officially from Pakistan about Mumbai militant strikes. (ANI)
