Pak Prez Zardari to attend UN’s inter-faith conference on Nov 12
United Nations, Nov 6: Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari will represent his country in an inter-faith conference to be held at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York on November 12.
He would be among 30 world leaders, including Saudi King Abdullah, US President George W Bush and US President-elect Barack Obama at the inter-faith conference, the Daily Times quoted a UN spokesman as saying.
Other prominent leaders expected to attend the conference are King Juan Carlos of Spain, King Abdullah of Jordan and Bahrain’s King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
According to the paper, UN General Assembly president Miguel d’Escoto Brockmann has sent letters to leaders of 192 member countries inviting them to the conference, which would focus on promoting inter-faith dialogue in order to strengthen world peace and stability.
The UN inter-faith conference is the first of its kind and is being held at the initiative of King Abdullah and on the recommendations of the conference that was held in Madrid in July. (ANI)
