Over-abundance of tech gadgets on the cards this holiday season

Over-abundance of tech gadgets on the cards this holiday season The holiday season this year will apparently witness an over-abundance of tech gadgets, thanks to a horde of new devices lined up from bigwig manufacturers like Nokia, Motorola, and Amazon; and the newly-unveiled Apple iPhone 5 and updated iPods.

With Microsoft's new Windows 8 operating system scheduled for launch on October 26, Nokia and Microsoft have together unveiled as many as five devices, including two new Nokia Lumia smartphones - Lumia 920 and Lumia
820 - which will be among the first handsets to run Windows 8 OS.

So far as the forthcoming devices from Motorola Mobility are concerned, the company - which has now been acquired by Google - announced three new `Razr' brand of smartphones earlier this month. While the $99-priced Droid Razr M is already available for sale at the Verizon stores; two new high-end handsets - Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD - will hit the markets later this year.

Meanwhile, Amazon is also all set to benefit from this year's holiday season; with the online retail giant having unveiled four new models of its Kindle Fire tablet and a new lineup of stand-alone Kindle Paperwhite e-readers, at its press event a few days back.

Moreover, Apple has also recently taken the wraps off its much-awaited iPhone 5 and revamped iPods; and some other gadgets on the cards this holiday season include the Microsoft Surface tablet; an updated 7-inch Nook Tablet from Barnes and Noble; and a children-specific 7-inch tablet from Toys R Us, among several other devices.
