Outsourcing industry angry with new US visa norms
On Saturday, the outsourcing industry made it clear that they are angry with the new US laws regarding the visas.
As per this, the security on the Mexico border has been tightened and has also increased the visa fees for work permits.
The total worth of the new measure has been calculated at $600 million and was signed by President Obama on Friday. The steep rise in fees is now going to make it almost impossible for some of the IT workers to go in US.
Reacting to this, National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), which represents India's leading software exporters said that it was US's right to protect its workers and borders but not at the cost of foreign companies and they should not be asked to pay.
It further added that the US government should have been fair and equitable and should not have discriminated against any particular sector.
A look at the new law will show that the fee has been doubled for the skilled workers especially for those who are brought from overseas. The companies that employ more than 50 per cent of foreign workers are going to be the most affected.
