Opposition terms inflation trend as Government’s failure, ruling party says it’s a global phenomena
New Delhi, Apr 16: The Opposition and the Communist Party of India today criticised the Government for its failure to check inflation.
Initiating a discussion on the price rise in the Lok Sabha, CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta called for effective measures, among other things, to strengthen the public distribution system and ban on future trading in some essential commodities.
Bharatiya Janata Party leader M. M. Joshi asked the government in the Rajya Sabha to specify the timeframe by which the inflation would be checked.
Joshi alleged that the economic policies followed by the government were not in the interest of the people.
“The control over the price rise will play a key role in ensuring stability of democracy,” he said.
Ruling party members maintained that the upward trend in inflation is a global phenomenon. (ANI)
