One student killed in police firing in J-K

Srinagar, Oct 26: One university student was killed and eight others injured in police firing in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramullah town on Sunday, in the wake of protests over alleged high-handedness of security forces.

Authorities clamped curfew in the area.

According to reports, Irfan Ahmad, a university student, was killed on the spot when a bullet hit him in his chest during firing by security forces after baton charge and teargas shelling failed to control the violent mob in the town.

The crowd was protesting against the detention of some functionaries of the separatist Tehrek-e-Hurriyat on Saturday night by security forces. (ANI)
