One of ‘The Hurt Locker’ banned from Oscars
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has barred one of the producers of The Hurt Locker, Mr. Nicolas Chartier on Tuesday from attending the Oscar ceremony on Sunday, for violating the rules of the group's campaign.
The movie directed by Kathryn Bigelow is among the favorites to win the best film award in the award function where other producers of the film will be present.
The reason behind the move is that Mr. Chartier has send emails in February to academy members urging them to vote for his film instead of ultra-high budget film. He did not mention the name of the movie but clearly signaled at Avatar. The Hurt Locker is a low budget war movie on Iraq war.
The rules by the academy states that direct promotional communications with members is not allowed and it also bans any attempt to show another movie in a negative light.
The rules were violated when the two movies had a face off. This Oscars have many good films running for various titles like 'An Education' other than special effect movie Avatar and The Hurt Locker.
The Oscars on Sunday has prompted many hotels and restaurants to offer a unique viewing experience to its customers. Some hotels are arranging for a pre event ballot while others will offer free drinks for twitter comments by its customers.
Some of places for watching Oscars in Hollywood area are Hotel Casa del Mar, Pourtal Wine Bar, Katsuya, RH at the Andaz, The London West Hollywood, The Standard Hollywood, Ketchup, Taix and The Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
