Nuke Deal Discussion In Parliament On August 14, 16

New Delhi: The Indo-US civil nuclear deal will be discussed in Parliament on August 14 and 16.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunsi kept that the government wants the discussion on issue as early as possible.

He said that the government has nothing to hide and is also ready to discuss issue.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will make a statement in Parliament on August 13.

The Left allies of government and the opposition NDA and UNPA have rejected the 123 nuclear agreement concluded last month and are asking for a debate on the issue in Parliament.

While NDA and UNPA are also demanding the debate under Rule 184 that entails voting, the Left wants the discussion without voting under Rule 193.

As there will be discussion about the nuclear deal in Parliament, so the External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will not be traveling to Bishkek, Kyrgystan, next week for Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meet.
