NTPC inks MoU with NHPC, PFC and TCS for setup of JV Company
The National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd. (NTPC), Country's largest thermal power generating company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NHPC Ltd., Power Finance Corporation Ltd. (PFC) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (TCS) for incorporation of a joint venture (JV) company to set-up and operate a power exchange at national level. This power exchange would provide a neutral and transparent electronic platform for trading of power on 'day ahead basis' and ensure clearing of all trades in a transparent, fair and open manner with access to all players in the power markets. Many States in India need power during peak season. Power requirements also increase during the crop seasons. Power Trading may help power deficient states to fulfill their energy requirements at a fair price. Uttrakhand and Madhya Pradesh have recently emerged as major power sources.
