Nokia to finalize new India head soon
Leading handset maker, Nokia has refreshed its global operations and is also in the process of appointing a new India head for its unit in one of the fastest growing mobile phone market in the world. The company was supposed to have a new head from January but it is yet to find a suitable candidate.
"We're looking for people and examining internal and external candidates. As is mandatory for every senior role, we always take the best from the industry," said Shivakumar.
The company has recently combined its eight global sales regions into four and promoted Shivakumar to senior vice president who will head India, the Middle East and Africa from January. The Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific, including China are the other three regions.
Nokia might start selling its new Windows phone powered smartphones in India and other countries before March 2012 as part of the company's plans of a global rollout. Nokia India managing director D Shivakumar said, "Work for the Windows phone is on track and it would be launched in the first quarter of next (calendar) year."
