Noida Authority and Operators should find solution: Pilot

Noida Authority and Operators should find solution: PilotSachin Pilot, the Minister of State for IT and Communications, has said that the Noida Authority and telecom operators should find solution to the issue relating to the towers set up on the top of residential buildings.

The authorities have already sealed around 200 telecom towers in Noida in a drive to clear away unauthorized towers in the residential areas. This move has seriously affected the telecom network in the area.

The Noida Authority has alleged that the Operators had not consulted the housing Welfare groups and also did not follow the guidelines for installing telecom towers.

Mr. Pilot said "We have requested both the parties that whatever is the rule, under which the towers are being sealed, should keep in mind that the subscribers should not bear the brunt of it." The minister was speaking on the sidelines of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of the Press Trust of India.

The minister said that the issue does not come under his ministry and should be solved by the Noida Authority and the Operators. He also said that the customers should not be made to suffer in the tussle between the operators and the authorities.

The minister stressed that the operators should have ensured compliance with the rules at the time of erecting towers and on the other hand the authorities must conduct due diligence of the towers before initiating any punitive actions.

In another development, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has also initiated the process of checking unauthorized telecom towers in the distinct. GDA expressed that appropriate actions would be taken against the contractors if the towers built by them are not approved by the norms.
