Washington, Sept 26 : A new NASA-supported study has reported that 2007 marked an overall rise in the melting trend over the entire Greenland ice sheet.

More surprising, researchers said, was the fact that melting in high-altitude areas was 150 percent more than average, adding that the amount of snow that had melted this year over Greenland could cover the surface size of the US more than twice.

Karachi, Sept.26 : The South African cricket team arrived in Karachi on Wednesday to play two Test matches and five One-day Internationals against Pakistan.

Mumbai, Sept.26 : Fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim's brother, Iqbal Kaskar, has surrendered before a special court in Mumbai in connection with a case relating to the illegal construction of Sara-Sahara shopping malls.

Kaskar, who was acquitted in the case where he is alleged to have aided Dawood in constructing the structures, had to surrender after the Bombay High Court last week admitted an appeal against his acquittal.

Following the surrender, Kaskar sought bail and the court is to hear the arguments in the matter.
