4 Dengue Cases Confirmed In AIIMS

AIIMSNew Delhi: Dengue has affected All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) once again with four students of the hospital campus presently going through treatment for suspected dengue.

The hospital authorities have confirmed that two doctors are already undergoing treatment at the hospital for mosquito-borne disease and two more were diagnosed with dengue on Saturday.

Push for Gandhi monument gaining support among Nevada clergy

Nevada, Sept.29 : The push for Gandhi monument in the state capital Carson City and Gandhi statues in Las Vegas and Reno is gaining more support among Nevada clergy.

According to Rajan Zed and Gene Savoy Jr., coordinators of Gandhi Monument Council of Nevada, this issue was discussed at the interfaith clergy luncheon held at Unity Ministry of Reno on Thursday and it received widespread support.

Dysfunctional families and bad neighbourhoods linked to asthma symptoms in children

Washington, Sept 29 : A study by Canadian researchers has shown that a lack of family support and problems in one’s neighbourhood are associated with greater asthma symptoms in children and adolescents.

Dr. Edith Chen and her colleagues at the University of British Columbia enrolled 78 children who had asthma without other chronic illnesses, and assessed the extent to which they perceived support from family, support from peers and problems in their neighbourhood, such as crime and violence.

Japan falls for Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev

Tokyo, Sept.29 : Popular yoga guru Baba Ramdev is making waves among Japanese visiting the ongoing Namaste India 2007 festival in Tokyo.

Baba Ramdev interacted with several groups of Japanese, giving yoga lectures and demonstrations. Prominent among those who interacted with him were members of Pasona, Japan’s multibillion-dollar HR Company.

British Library to digitalise over 100,000 old books

London, Sept.29 : Over 100,000 old books previously unavailable to the public will go online thanks to a mass digitisation programme at the British Library.

According to the BBC, the programme will focus on 19th Century books, many of which are unknown as few were reprinted after first editions. The library believes online access to the titles will help teachers.
