Kathmandu, July 2 : Former Nepal Prime Minister and Unified CPN (Maoist) Chairman Prachanda has claimed that a new government under the leadership of his party would be formed within next one-and-half months.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Prachanda said he was now concentrating on forming a "national government with civilian supremacy", which would come into existence in one month and half.

He said that his party would not join the present ''unconstitutionally-formed'' government.

Manila  - Filipinos gathered in churches around the Philippines on Thursday to pray for former president Corazon Aquino, who has been confined in hospital for weeks due to colon cancer.

Family members and friends led masses and prayers for Aquino, 76, who became president in 1986 after a four-day popular revolt ousted the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

Aquino, considered a democratic icon in the Philippines, was diagnosed with colon cancer in March 2008.
