Hugh Jackman gifts Bryan Singer a Quesada-commissioned X-Men print

Washington D.C. [USA], Oct. 5 : 'Wolverine' Hugh Jackman stepped out of his way to give director Bryan Singer a commissioned print from X-Men comic book artist Joe Quesada as a parting gift.

The 47-year-old actor is now preparing to retire as Wolverine after more than eight years of owning the mutant character in the X-Men franchise, reports Entertainment Weekly.

The 53-year-old director envisioned the 'Wolverine' star as the adamantium-clawed mutant standing behind Singer as Professor Xavier, the telepathic leader of the X-Men.

Jackman reportedly signed one of the pieces with a message that read, "Dear Bryan, It all started with you, Bub! 1999-2016! From the bottom of my heart, thank you."

Xiaomi sells half a million smartphones within three days of festive season

New Delhi [India], Oct. 5 : Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has become the biggest gainer during the recent three-day festive season sales across Amazon, Snapdeal and Flipkart by selling half a million smart phones.

With half a million phones sold, Xiaomi India head, Manu Kumar Jain, said in a Facebook post, "This means close to 2 phones were sold per second during first three days of October. Based on what we know, no other brand has ever achieved this in India."

Vodafone, GMR tie-up to offer Wi-Fi at Delhi Airport

New Delhi [India], Oct 5 : India's second-largest telco Vodafone has announced its partnership with infrastructure firm GMR to create the country's largest Wi-Fi hotspot at the Delhi international airport.

In a recent announcement made on Tuesday, the Vodafone said that high-speed Wi-Fi services will be made available at both terminals of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi.

The service will be open for fliers after over three months of tests. More than one lakh inbound and outbound travelers use the IGI airport every day.

"With customer needs evolving from voice to data, Wi-Fi is an effective technology to provide seamless connectivity to a large group of consumers in a defined space," said Director-commercial at Vodafone India, Sandeep Kataria.

Washington D.C. [USA], Oct. 5 : An interdisciplinary team of engineers and pharmaceutical researchers at the University of Alberta has invented a device that can rapidly identify harmful bacteria and can determine whether it is resistant to antibiotics.

The device could save precious hours in patient care and public health, and prevent the spread of drug-resistant strains of bacteria.

The team's findings can help in detecting bacteria and measure their susceptibility to antibiotics in small confined volumes.

The device was designed to look for and trap different types of bacteria and find out which antibiotics are most effective against them.

Rather than growing bacterial cultures then testing them, the microscopic device relies on nano-scale technology for fast results.

Botox may help women suffering from bladder incontinence

Washington D.C. [USA], Oct. 5 : A recent research has found that Botox (a bladder injection of botulinum toxin) could help in controlling bladder incontinence, after the first and second-line therapies proved inadequate.

A head-to-head comparison of sacral neuromodulation that (an implanted device sold as InterStim), or and botulinum toxin shows that Botox provides more daily relief for women, but might also be associated with more adverse events.

Botox in the bladder muscle works to address urgency urinary incontinence by relaxing the overactive bladder muscles that cause the condition.

A sacral neuromodulation implant does the same thing by sending electrical pulses to nerves in the spine.
