Coffee’s stimulating powers are actually all in your mind!`London, Sept 2 : Most people believe that a cup of coffee in the morning helps them boost their mental performance all day.

But a new study by the University of East London has suggested that the stimulating effect of the coffee may be all in the mind.

The British researchers studied 88 volunteers aged between 18 and 47 who were self-confessed coffee lovers, downing at least two cups every day.

Report points to slower growth in US manufacturingNew York, Sep 2 : The US manufacturing sector grew in August for the 25th consecutive month, but the pace of expansion was the slowest since July 2009, the Institute for Supply Management said Thursday.

The ISM's Purchasing Managers' Index, or PMI, came in at 50.6 points, down from 50.9 in July, and the lowest reading since the 49 percent registered in July 2009.

Even so, the August PMI figure was better than expected by analysts, who had feared the index would dip below 50, the dividing line between growth and contraction.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) which opened at 16,963.67 points was ruling 16,739.61 points -- up 62.86 points or 0.38 percent from its previous close at 16,676.75 points.

The Sensex had risen to almost touch the 17,000-mark in early trade.

The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading higher, 0.25 percent up at 5,013.35 points.
