World's largest telecom equipment maker, Ericsson said that it has seen a decline of 8 per cent in its sales during the second quarter. This has been triggered by the shortage of key components in the whole industry, something that was told by Nokia as well.

Stockholm-based company revealed that its sales have fallen down to 48 billion Swedish Kroner, or $6.5 billion as against 52 billion kroner during last year.

Leading capital goods maker Thermax has posted an extra ordinary first quarter results. Thermax has announced its first quarter financial results for the fiscal year 2010 and it has beaten all forecasts this time.

Bombay Dyeing has reported that it has faced a huge loss in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2010-11. Wadia group firm Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company has declared its first quarter financial results for the fiscal year 2010-11 and it is not so impressive. The net loss has overtaken last year’s loss record.

The company has posted a net loss of Rs 30.61 crore for this quarter under review.

The Government has sanctioned capital, an estimated cost of Rs. 3023.01 crore, for the allocation of unique identity numbers to 10 crore of the India’s 100 million population.

From this estimated amount, Rs. 477.11 crore will be kept for recurring establishment expenditure while the remaining Rs. 2,545.90 crore will be reserved for non-recurring project related expenditure.

The government will issue the first set of 10 crore UID numbers sometime between August 2010 and March 2011, after which 600 million more UID numbers will be issued by the next three years.

The largest polystyrene producer in India, Supreme Petrochem Ltd (SPL) has declared its year end financial results for the fiscal year 2009-10. As per the financial report it has managed to register almost three fold rise in the net profit figure in this year under review.

The company has posted a net profit of Rs 60.47 crore for the year that ended in 30th June, 2010. This net profit was Rs 19.18 crore in the corresponding fiscal year 2009. This has been informed by Supreme Petrochem Ltd (SPL) in a filing at the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The yearly food inflation came down to 12.47 per cent for the week ended on July 10 as compared to previous week’s 12.81 per cent. There has been a decline in the prices of vegetables, especially of potato and onion. The price of potato has come down by more than 45 per cent over the year, while the price of onion has come down by almost 8 per cent. The overall prices of vegetables have come down by 9.92 per cent.
