Coldplay sued over Viva la Vida
Los Angeles - Rock guitarist Joe Satriani has sued British supergroup Coldplay, claiming that their hit single Viva la Vida was largely copied from his instrumental track If I Could Fly.
In a filing at the Los Angeles federal courts, Satriani accused the band of copyright infringement, seeking a jury trial in the dispute, as well as damages and "any and all profits" attributable to the alleged copyright infringement.
The filing came just a day after the Coldplay album was nominated for seven Grammys, including Record and Song of the Year for Viva la Vida. (dpa)
