Gujarat To Have 400 More Medical Seats In The Near Future
Here’s good news for the medical students in the country. The Union health Ministry, under Anbumani Ramadoss has given the go-ahead for splitting campuses to start medical colleges with existing hospitals. As a result of this, medical students across the country can expect more seats for them in the coming times.
In Gujarat alone, nearly 400 more seats will be generated for this purpose. Out of these 400, Ahmedabad alone will be able to pitch more than 100 medical seats.
Speaking on this, Dr Haresh Bhalodiya, a state representative Medical Council of India (MCI) said, “The split campus proposal has been cleared. It is good news for Gujarati students.”
Apart from this, the new norms laid by the Union Ministry also added that hospital and residence for doctors would be housed in one campus while the college, hostel and library will be in another campus. Besides this, two campuses should not be more than 10 km away from each other.
However, the State Health Minister, Jay Narayan Vyas said that he have not received any details for the proposal of split campus from the Union government.
