Sensex Opens Lower On Global CuesIndia equities belled the day on a lower note due to hopeless worldwide signals.

The 30-share index, BSE Sensex opened at 10,405.39 after losing 130.77 points, as against its last day’s closure in which it gained 571.87 points.

Metal, realty and consumer goods have declined sharply on selling pressure. Metal stocks were among the worst hit this morning. These stocks had recoded impressive gains during the last few sessions.

Asian stocks fell after Mitsubishi Materials slashed its profit estimate and Australian business confidence dropped to the lowest level on record.

At 10.04 a.m., the BSE Sensex lost 158.86 points at 10,377.30 after hitting a high of 10,405.39 and a low of 10,354.91.

In the meantime, the broad based Nifty stood at 3,097.90, down 50.35 points, after touching a high of 3,147.20 and a low of 3,090.40.

The overall market breadth of the market was negative as it saw 335 progressions as against 507 declinations.

The biggest gainers’ in the 30-share index included ITC (1.22%), Wipro (0.78%), Reliance Communications (0.68%), NTPC (0.49%), Tata Power Company (0.22%), and Ranbaxy Laboratories (0.17%).

The major losers’ list included Sterlite Industries (India) (6.52%), Hindalco Industries (4.94%), Tata Steel (3.22%), Jaiprakash Associates (3.00%), D L F (2.62%), and Reliance Industries (2.46%).
