Anil Kumble retires, Dhoni to take over
One of the greatest spinners of India and the captain of Indian test squad, Anil Kumble, announced his retirement from international cricket today.
Kumble made an announcement about his decision after the third test against the Aussies.
The surprise announcement means that he will not play the fourth and last test of the India-Australia series.
After Kumble's announcement Indian selectors have declared Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the new captain of Indian Test team.
Dhoni was the Vice-Captain in Kumble's team.
The 38 year olg leg spinner has the credit of sending 619 test batsmen to Pavilion in 132 tests.
He is the third highest wicket taker in test cricket after Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan.
Kumble called it a day at Ferozeshah Kotla Ground in Delhi where he got 10 wickets in an innings against Pakistan.
"Delhi has been special for me and I thought it fitting to finish my career here," he said.
"I was a very tough decision particularly after playing competitive cricket for the last 18 years. But the body gave the decision. This injury probably helped me take the decision," India's most successful Test bowler ever added.
