Manila - Seven people, including a child, were killed Saturday in a smash-up between a passenger bus and a van in a northern Philippine province, a police officer said.

Senior Superintendent Fernando Villanueva said several more bus passengers were injured in the accident that occurred along a highway in Mabalacat town in Pampanga province, 75 kilometres north of Manila.

Villanueva said the passenger bus was overtaking a vehicle when it rammed into the van coming from the opposite lane.

Villanueva said all the fatalities - three passengers of the van and four passengers of the bus - were killed on the spot. (dpa)
