We’ll bounce back strongly: Hayden
After a poor show in the first two tests against India, Australia opener Matthew Hayden is sure that his team will bounce back in the third Test in Delhi starting from October 29.
Speaking in a press conference here on Sunday, “I think we are extremely confident, we've had good preparation … and are optimistic about the competition that's ahead of us.”
The prolific batsman from Queensland has managed to score only 42 runs in the first two Tests, with 29 being his top score.
Commenting on his poor form, the left hander said, "I won't change my strategy, but that aggression I showed in the second innings (in Mohali) is just how I want to play here.”
"I want to be strong at the ball and give myself the best chance to hit the ball. I am at a stage of the tour where I have hit a lot of the balls. I am confident with my hands and my feet.”
The aggressive batting style of Hayden forced the Indian skipper M S Dhoni to spread the field around despite the fact that Australia were chasing 516 to win.
"I think more than anything I am such a weapon here because I think as you saw, when I started attacking, they just got so defensive," he said.
In the 2000/01 tour of India, Hayden averaged a Bradmanesque 109.80 with 539 runs from the 3 tests.
