Vishwanathan Anand all set to Win World Chess Championship: Leading 5-2
Vishwanathan Anand has once again proved his might by taking a lead against Valdimir Kramnik in the world Chess Championships at the Art and Exhibition Hall in Bonn on Thursday. The Indian Champion won three games and drew four games. Now, with only five games remaining, the ace Indian player needs to draw just three games to win the title.
If Anand takes away the title he becomes the first champion in the history of the game to have won the World Championships in all possible format, beating retired Garry Kasparov as he had not played the knockout world championships. Although Kramnik was not far behind Anand and never was in real danger. In the seventh round, Anand made headway through the lone open file available for both players and the visions of an exciting game were temporarily raised when Anand successfully guided his Bishop to the sixth rank after exchange of queens. But the excitement did not last as Kramnik had planned an intelligent defensive plan, with the game ending in a draw.
Although Anand has proved smarter than Kramnik in many ways, the three point lead may be not be something which cannot be covered.
