Hari Puttar; Theme Copied From Hollywood Movie Presented In Bollywood Style
The most awaited film for kids Hari Puttar, a Comedy of Terrors, was released on 24 September. This movie is a story of Hari Puttar (Zain Khan), a 10-year-old lad, who has moved from India to the UK. He and his cousin Tuk Tuk (Swini Khara from Cheeni Kum) are left alone at home to confront two intruders. People related with this movie claim that Hari Puttar is a well made film and it has all the necessary ingredients of a box office hit.
This movie was earlier in news for a case filed by Warner Bros seeking an injunction because of the alleged similarity of its title with Harry Potter. The Delhi High court rejected the case. But the basic idea of this movie has been copied from “Home Alone”. Even some scenes are copied from the movie.
It seems that this movie couldn’t create a good impression on film critics. To give movie a typical bollywood touch, Kohli and the film's other director Rajesh Bajaj have added two item numbers along with a weak plot twist involving a computer chip. A frivolous villain called Mirchi Bhai is added to give movie original touch.
It seems that item numbers have been added to attract elders to the movie. Otherwise there is no relevance of item numbers in a kid’s movie. Unwanted addition of animated character created for the promotion of a biscuit brand can be seen. Performance of none of the actors could hold the movie.
Presence of acclaimed actors like Sarika and Jackie Shroff couldn’t add strength to the week plot. Even all the child actors have been presented as children gifted with unreal intelligence. Element of comedy has been added through villains that keep on passing gas. Critics say that even live actors in the movie behave in unreal manner like animated characters.
