Kalpana Morparia Quits ICICI Bank To Join JP Morgan
Kalpana Morparia, who had been working for ICICI for more than 30 years, has finally quit her job to get even better opportunities. The veteran woman had been a recognized public face of ICICI bank and now it is in news that she has moved on to work for JP Morgan and handle their financial services operations in India.
During here time with ICICI bank, Ms Morparia had worked really hard to transform ICICI from a development finance institution into the country’s second-largest bank.
On Thursday through a statement, Gaby Abdelnour, chairman of JP Morgan and chief executive of JPMorgan Asia Pacific, said, “The appointment of Kalpana Morparia as chief executive officer for Indian operations offers JP Morgan a tremendous opportunity to accelerate the progress we have made in building our Indian franchise.”
Ms Morparia too seemed really excited to work with JP Morgan as she explained, “India has enormous potential for a bank of JPMorgan’s size and scale.”
Ms Morparia had started her career from the legal department of ICICI bank, and she had put in a lot of efforts to bring ICICI to its present position. In fact she was seen as the legal brain behind various deals and structures of ICICI. The woman was also ICICI’s public face at number of global meetings in which complex interaction with the potential investors uses to take place.
