Govt Serious Over Stipend Issue In WB

It seems that the problems of the junior doctors in West Bengal are numbered for only a few days.

The State Health Minister Surjya Kanta Mishra has indicated that the government is trying its best to solve the stipend issue and any announcement regarding this can be made in the two-day Assembly session starting from Tuesday.

While addressing a convention called by the CPM-backed Junior Doctors Council, the State finance minister Asim Dasgupta said, “If I get the health department's recommendations in the morning, our department will study the proposals, take the decision and clear it by evening,"

Two government hospitals in Kolkata witnessed an indefinite strike by the junior doctors earlier this month. The doctors resumed their work in the emergency and indoor departments only after getting an assurance from the government over the stipend issue.
