Honda launches 125 cc ‘CBF Stunner’ in Indian motorbike market
Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) has introduced a new 125 cc ‘CBF Stunner’, in the fastest growing segment, which contributes almost 25% to the total motorcycle market.
The new bike is an offering from Honda complementing its existing model 'Shine' in the same category (125cc). The bike aimed primarily at consumers in the 18-24 years age bracket.
HMSI, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Honda Motor Co., entered India with its Activa scooter in 2000.
The company claims that its latest release will compete with Bajaj's XCD, the cheapest bike in the 125 CC segment, Hero Honda's Super Splendour, TVS's Flame and Yamaha's Gladiator.
The motorcycle has integrated front body cowl and will run on a 11 bhp engine with five-speed transmission.
The kick-start model with drum brakes will cost Rs 47,070 ex-showroom in Delhi, while the high-end model with disc brakes and self-start will be priced Rs 51,655.
During April 2007 - May 2008, HMSI sold about 47,000 motorcycles comprising of just the Shine (125cc) and the Unicorn (150cc) models.
Honda plans to sell 80,000 units of this bike during the current fiscal and even launch two to three new models this year. The company also plans to bring 800 CC plus bikes this year.
