Bollywood’s newest heart-throbs and star kids, Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor, have been a couple of Gen Z youngsters. Their first film “Saawariya” is set to face hard competition from another mega-star mega-budget film ‘Om Shanti Om’ in theatres on November 9.

The 20-somethings recently visited Ahmedabad for promoting “Saawariya,” which is first Indian film produced by Hollywood studio – Columbia pictures.

Ranbir Kapoor, Rishi and Neetu Kapoor’s son and fourth generation kid of famous “Kapoor Gharana” understands the possible threats to “Saawariya” at the box office.

Ranbir said, “It’s unfortunate that both the movies are releasing on the same day. It does affect business. But it’s festive season (of Diwali) so I am sure it can hold two films. The entire team of ‘Saawariya’ wishes ‘OSO’ all the best and I am sure they wish well for us too.”

He also accepts being nervous, but seems all committed to publicize his film.

Ranbir says, “Well, this will be my first ‘nervous’ Friday, so I am nervous, excited and eagerly waiting for the reviews. I hope people will like the movie. Honestly, this being Sonam’s (Kapoor) and my first film that itself giving us sleepless nights. I don’t think of it coming with Shah Rukh Khan. He is too big a star. He’s been in the industry for such a long time. We can’t even think of going head to head with him.”

Also he adds, “He’s (SRK) the biggest actor in the country, but we have the biggest director in the country - Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is the USP of the film.”

Anil Kapoor’s daughter, Sonam said she has an old connection with Ahmedabad. Her mother Sunita studied in a leading college in city. She smiles, “I think my father is nervous too, but at the same time he is equally excited.”

Ranbir explained it is tough being a star kid. He said, “Yes definitely, expectations are high from star kids. Lots of hype is created when a star kid joins the film industry. You are always compared to your family members. But there are perks, too.”

Sonam confessed, “I wouldn't have met Sanjay Leela Bhansali if I wasn't Anil Kapoor's daughter. But at the same time, I'll have expectations, a baggage put on me. I'll be compared to my father all the time.”

Ranbir accompanying her said, “I completely agree with Sonam. The comparisons are made, the expectations are too much. You are under like a microscope because they are going to compare everything right from your hair strand to your nail. You can’t escape that.”

“But interestingly, right now top stars not star kids. SRK, Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra none of them has a lineage except Abhishek Bachchan,” she added.

As both Saawariya and Om Shanti Om are releasing on the same day, Ranbir said, “It will be unfair to compare me with Shah Rukh Khan. He is a superstar and I am just a newcomer.”

When asked about parental advice, Sonam said, “My father always told me that the industry is a great place to work in. And at the same time, he also taught me to be grounded. He says respect your elders and people around you.”

While Ranbir rewinds, “They told me about the industry and the dos and don’ts.”

Sonam said, “At the end, it what the audience want and what they like. Who they accept and who they don’t. So it all up to the audience, your destiny and your hard work.”

Salman Khan and Rani Mukherji also starred in the film. Ranbir expressed he’s thankful to them for their contribution to film.

“Though I have no scene with Salman, but I learned so much while sharing screen space with Rani. Rani is such a fabulous actor,” he said.
