US supports Pakistan’s policy on terrorism: Gilani

United states And PakistanIslamabad, July 14 : Pakistan’s Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani today said that the United States supports his government’s policy on combating terrorism and extremism in the country.

However, Gilani said the US has its own concerns over the involvement of foreign elements in terrorist activities on Pakistani soil so that there are no major mishaps in future, the Dawn reported.

Gilani said that foreigners are present in the tribal areas and incident like 9/11 could happen again.

He said Chechens, Uzbeks and other foreigners are present in Pakistan’s tribal region. United States is supporting Pakistan’s three-pronged strategy in war against terror.

Talking to newsmen after attending a function of the National Highway Authority, he said terrorists should be separated from the people who want peace in their areas.

Replying to a question, the Prime Minister said the parliament was sovereign in its decisions and the government believes in consultation with all parties.

Gilani dispelled the impression that PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari influenced government''s decisions and said consultations are however made at all levels.

On the possibility of MQM members joining the cabinet, Gilani said the decision would be taken after consultation. (ANI)
