Tesla’s all-electric Cyberquad ATV for Kids available in China
American multinational automotive giant Tesla Motors has announced that its all-electric Cyberquad for Kids ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) is available in China. The battery electric Cyberquad for Kids ATV was banned in 2022 after the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) found that the controversial vehicle violated federal safety standards for All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). In other words, it posed risk of injury. The authorities instructed customers to return the ATV to the manufacturer and ask for a refund.
In the US market, Tesla started selling a $1,900 version of the quad in December 2021 through Radio Flyer. It quickly sold out as ATV lovers jumped on the opportunity to own one of the most pocket-friendly Tesla-branded battery electric vehicles ever produced.
Now, the kid-oriented all-electric ATV is once again available, but the American manufacturer has made some changes to it to satisfy regulatory authorities. Thus, the re-launched model is said to be slightly different from the initially introduced model. The U.S. version was advertised for kids over the age of 8 and with the capability of running at a speed of up to 10 miles per hour (approx. 16 km per hour). The lithium-ion battery of the model was advertised with ability to propel the vehicle for a distance of up to 15 miles (roughly 24 km) on a single charge.
According to Tesla China’s website, the new version is intended for kids aged between 8 and 12, has a maximum load of 110 pounds (50 kilograms), and can cruise for up to 8 miles (13 km) on a full charge. Moreover, it has two settings that can enable a top speed of either 2.5 mph (4 kph) or 5 mph (8 kph).
The American manufacturer’s official product description states, “Inspired by our iconic Cybertruck design language, this toy vehicle features Tesla's signature LED headlights and taillights, a sturdy steel frame and rubber pneumatic tires, plus a padded seat for added riding.”
The toy EV boasts excellent performance in terms of both battery life and charging speed. The ATV’s cruising range of up to 13 km on a single charge and a top speed of 8 km/h makes it an apt vehicle for kids aged 8-12.
When it comes to pricing, The Tesla Cyberquad for Kids ATV is available for 11,990 Yuan (equivalent to around $1,700), which makes it significantly more pocket-friendly than the initially launched version that would cost $1,900 in the U.S.
