2019/20 Premier League Season Betting Predictions

The previous edition of the English Premier League was indeed competitive to the last as Manchester City ad Liverpool took their title battle all the way to the final Matchday when the Citizens managed to preserve a minimal one-point cushion to edge past the Reds and win their second successive trophy. It was shocking to see that 97 points were not enough for the Reds to win the title. The competition in the EPL nowadays is fierce, and no one can really tell what is season 2019/2020 going to offer.

It was Man City’s fourth league silverware in last eight years. Can they make it three in a row and become only the second team ever to do so, following Manchester United’s path? Pep Guardiola’s machinery is truly the only genuine candidates for the trophy, just as the odds suggest. They have lost long-term captain Vincent Kompany in between two seasons, but Guardiola still has immense quality in his ranks and we can’t see any side other than Liverpool to rival them. The 4/6 odds offered for Man City to claim the title look like a safe bet before the start of the season.

Liverpool also made very little changes to the squad that won the Champions League last season. They will be title challengers once again, but we can see Klopp’s men dropping some unexpected points much easier than Manchester City which is why there is little value in the odds of 9/4 offered for Liverpool to wear the crown.

Another safe bet, according to a leading UK betting tips site, would be Tottenham Hotspur to finish inside the top four at 1/2 odds. They came fourth last season and went on to feature the Champions League final in spite of having their star man Harry Kane injured throughout a good part of the season. We can hardly imagine the Spurs ending behind the likes of Manchester United (had a dreadful finish to the last season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer), Chelsea (sold by far the best player Eden Hazard to Real Madrid) or Arsenal (with a ridiculous budget of $40 million). Kane scored 17 goals last season in spite of numerous injury woes. He should easily go beyond the line of 20 if he stays healthy this time around and the Three Lions talisman is our main top goalscorer bet at 9/2 odds.

The relegation battle will be equally interesting. Southampton barely saved the top-flight status in the past couple of years. They are sky-high 5/1 to be dropped to the second division football this time around.

Sheffield United returned the elite class after 12 years thanks to an extraordinary Championship campaign which saw them secure the automatic promotion after coming second to Norwich City at the end of the season. However, looking at teams’ quality, the Blades are our main candidates for relegation and can be backed at 4/6 to finish in the bottom three. Moving forward, they are 3/1 to be at the bottom of the standings a Christmas which is another bet well worth backing.

Standout picks:

• Tottenham Hotspur to finish inside the top four @ 1/2
• Harry Kane to be Premier League top-scorer @ 9/2
• Southampton to be relegated @ 5/1
• Sheffield United to be at the bottom at Christmas @ 3/1

Transfers

Besides these long-term outright exotic bets, we find quite intriguing odds offered for transfer speculations. Paul Pogba clearly declared his wish to leave Old Trafford this summer. Real Madrid is looking to build another dream team and they seem to be Pogba’s next destination. The French World Cup winner is 2/5 to sign a Real Madrid deal before the end of the transfer window.

If Pogba does change Old Trafford for Santiago Bernabeu, Isco may likely be part of the transfer as reported by prestigious sports media in Madrid. The Spanish midfielder is huge 8/1 to sign for the Red Devils this summer.

The latest news reveals that Man Utd have also sent an offer for Lazio’s midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. You can back this move at 11/8 odds.
What we also find interesting is the current race for the position of Newcastle United’s head manager. Rafael Benitez has received a rich offer from the Chinese Super League, so he will continue a career in Asia. There were many names mentioned in the media regarding Newcastle. One of the most interesting ones for sure is Jose Mourinho. Portuguese expert is jobless for quite some time now, and he already stated he would love to return to the Premier League at some point. Is Newcastle big enough for his taste? Some of the other managers mentioned to fill this position are Mikel Arteta (Guardiola’s assistant), Sam Allardyce and Steve Bruce. The value you can pick up here is huge. Everyone loves free bets right?

Standout picks:

• Paul Pogba to sign for Real Madrid @ 2/5
• Isco to sign for Manchester United @ 8/1
• Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to sign for Manchester United @ 11/8
