The health alert over the kind of milk, which was previously thought to be effective alternative to dairy milk, has been issued after an 11-month-old child in Spain developed the disease resulting from a deficiency of vitamin C.

As per physicians, scurvy is a dangerous disease which may cause bleeding gums, bulging eyes and stunting of bone growth. There was a time when the disease was common in sailor, but today, there are rare cases of people developing scurvy.

The Spanish baby, who has developed the disease, took birth with healthy weight and there were no signs of him developing scurvy, as per parents. According to them, there switch the infant to the almond based formula when a doctor noticed skin allergy.

A report by the baby’s hospital showed that everything was normal until the baby started showed unusual signs at the age of eight months. The baby started showing less interest in interacting. Adding to that, he was noticed being unstable while sitting, as per the hospital’s report. X-ray reports showed that there was a fracture in his legs.

When the case was observed closely, it was found that the baby has developed scurvy, the hospital reported. Now, health experts are warning parents not to feed their kids a diet solely comprised of supposedly healthy plant-derived drinks like almond milk.
