Florida Teen and Prom Date of NFL Player Passes Away

Khameyea Jennings, the prom date of Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks, who was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2013 died on May 22.

Wolfson Children's hospital spokeswoman Cindy Hamilton confirmed the news about the death of the 18-year-old to Phillip Helman and Joe Daraskevich of The Florida Times-Union.

A separate Florida Times-Union update by Matt Soergel revealed that Jennings was firs5t diagnosed with the liver cancer on Mother's day 2013.

Jennings was a student of Frank H. Peterson Academies of Technology. Soergel stated that Mark escorted her to her high school prom at Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens in the city's Northside on May 2.

The Florida Times-Union stated that Jennings looked radiant in a log white dress with a bejeweled bodice.

Soergel said Marks visited Jennings at the hospital on April 29 and gave her a bouquet of flowers. The NFL player even asked her to go to her with him.

"I talked with your mom; she said it was OK. And I heard you had a prom this weekend and I wanted to know if I could take you to (the) prom?" Marks told Jennings.

Jennings then agreed to his [proposal although she told the Jaguars defensive lineman she wasn't so sure if she can dance as she gets tired easily, according to Soergel.

Khameyea's mother Laquandra Jennings told The Florida Times-Union that Khameyea said her prom day will be a normal day for her, where she will not have to worry about needles, chemo, and potassium levels.

She also said it will be a day to be teenager and to enjoy the prom.

Marks told Soergel that he really wanted to make a difference and wanted to do something where you actually make someone's day and make difference in someone's life.
